John Lombardo, age 91, of Sylvania , Ohio and formerly of Merrick and Brooklyn, New York, passed away October 4, 2016 at Flower Hospital in Sylvania. John was born June 30, 1925 in Brooklyn to the late Vito and Giovanna (nee Mule) Lombardo. He was preceded in death by his wife Mary (nee Mattina) on April 30, 1971. John was employed by the New York City Transit Authority for more than 25 years, retiring as Assistant Station Supervisor in 1983. He was a veteran of the United States Army, serving in Okinawa during World War II. Survivors include his daughter, Anne Edelstein and her husband Sheldon; granddaughter, Marisa Williams and her husband Edison; grandson, Dr. John Edelstein; and brother, Joseph Lombardo of New Jersey. Graveside services will take place at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, October 5, 2016 in the Dayton National Cemetery, 4339 West 3rd Street, Dayton, OH 45417. Donations in Johns name can be made to a charity of the donors choice.
