John Victor Lemerand

John Victor Lemerand, age 87, of Sylvania, died suddenly on December 29, 2021. He was born May 15, 1934, in Toledo to the late Elliotte and Eileen (Trabbic) Lemerand. He was the youngest of three boys. John graduated from Macomber High School in 1952 and served in the United States Army for two years. He then began a long, successful career fitting to his outgoing and friendly personality. He worked in sales for many years and was employed with several local tool and die companies, retiring from Tilter Lift. He was also a draftsman and designed various types of machinery. John was an avid fan of all sports, especially the Detroit and Tampa Bay teams. He enjoyed traveling, making small stakes trips to the casino, and going out to eat. John was an overall “great guy” with a unique way of making others feel comfortable by creating personal connections. He found his greatest joy in spending time with family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren who lovingly knew John as “Papa”. Left to cherish his memory are his beloved wife of more than 66 years, Joan; daughter, Denise Stelnicki (Walter); grandchildren, Lindsay Cork (Joshua) and Lauren Stelnicki; and great grandchildren, Emma Cork, Ethan Cork, and Hadley Stelnicki. John was preceded in death by his son, Keith John Lemerand; and brothers, Elliotte, Jr. and Calvin. A memorial Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, January 13, 2022, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 5373 Main St., Sylvania. Interment will be private.
