John M. Lawniczak, 65, of Perrysburg, Ohio passed away on Tuesday, June 28, 2022, at St. Vincent Hospital ER. John was born to Betty and Jerome Lawniczak on October 19, 1956, in Toledo, Ohio.
John grew up his whole life in Rossford, Ohio, (Once a Bulldog, Always a Bulldog) until he married the love of his life, Shelley (Takats) another life long Bulldog on August 7, 1993. This year they would have been married 29 beautiful years. In 1995 they built their home, which was exiting, but it took them out of Rossford.
John graduated from Rossford High School in 1974. As a little boy, he peddled papers and most recently was still talking about his old customers. He worked as a Rossford Marina Guard, worked at the Rossford LOF Glass Plant, and then retired in 2010 as a Groundskeeper with the Rossford Board of Education. John, in his younger years, played softball with the Ukes and Polish Clubs in Rossford, was in a bowling league at Rossford lanes, played on a Rossford couples dart ball team and also played on a Rossford men’s dart ball team and was captain. John also served as President of his union with Rossford Schools.
John’s interests were the Detroit Tigers, Lions and University of Michigan sports, especially football. GO BLUE! He loved sitting in the garage on the weekends soaking up the sun with a few beers in hand, enjoyed going to his cottage on Silver Lake in Michigan when he was able to and riding on his golf cart or just riding the waves on his pontoon. He enjoyed grilling and had the best chicken recipe, and he also used his smoker, but the first time we all got sick on his smoked turkey, but that didn’t stop him.
John was preceded in death by his parents. His mother passed just recently in February, and he was also preceded in death by his mother, father, and brother-in-law.
John is survived by his loving wife Shelley (Takats), his furry child Hoover, siblings Jimmy (Deb) Lawniczak, Linda (Jim) Kreger, Daniel Lawniczak, and Sue (Herb) Cook along with many nieces, nephews, and great nephews.
