John Kozak, 72, of Genoa, died Sunday evening, February 5, 2012, with his family by his side, in the Genoa Retirement Village. John was born April 1, 1939, in Clay Center, Ohio, to Adam and Mary Tokar Kozak. He married Deanna Swartz on September 17, 1960, at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Genoa and she survives. John drove truck for White Rock Quarry but also worked at Perma Glass, Guardian Industries and Glass Tech and retired in 2002 after 40 years. John was a past member of the Clay Center Vol. Fire Dept. He loved the outdoors; especially, walking and bike riding, bird watching, and throwing horseshoes. He also enjoyed bowling and baseball, but his greatest enjoyment was his grandchildren. In addition to his wife, Deanna, John is survived by his daughters, Christina Steve Crispen, Connie Steve Reed and Stephanie Larry Schnabel, grandchildren, Steven Kozak, Geoffrey Schweitzer, Scott Kozak, Amanda Hines, Jeffrey Schnabel, Jennifer Schnabel and Ashley Horvath and nine great grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother, Joseph Kozak, and sister, Frances Vargo. John was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Stephen Kozak, and sisters, Mary Mitchell, Anna Kozak and Veronica Nero. Visitation will be 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., Wednesday, February 8, 2012, in the Robinson-Walker Funeral Home Crematory, 501 West St., Genoa. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated 10:30 a.m., Thursday, February 9, 2012, at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, Genoa. The family will gather in the church hall following the Mass for continued fellowship and luncheon. Memorials for John may be given to Hospice of Northwest Ohio, 30000 E. River Rd., Perrysburg, OH 43551; Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church Grotto Fund, 204 Main St., Genoa, OH 43430; or to the donors choice. The family would like to thank the staff of Genoa Retirement Village and Hospice of Northwest Ohio for their love and care given to John.
