John “Danny” D. King Jr., 78, of Perrysburg, OH passed away on Wednesday, July 7, 2022 surrounded by family. He was born on October 28, 1943 in Pensacola, FL, to John D. Sr. and Twila C. (Miner) King.
John attended Anthony Wayne and Woodward High Schools. He is a proud military veteran of the U.S. Army serving as a Staff Sergeant and Tank Gunner in Gelnhausen, Germany. His Distinguished Tank Crew received top honors and John was their Expert Marksman and Sharpshooter. He also served in the National Guard in Liquid Fuels Maintenance. All service totaled 12 years.
John worked at several places of employment and retired in 1998 from the Toledo Edison Davis-Besse Nuclear Power Station as an Instrument & Control Technician. He then worked as an I&C contractor for many years after retirement.
He enjoyed traveling in the U.S. and spending time with his grandkids at school events and in the summers as they brought great joy to his life.
John was preceded in death by his parents, and brothers, Vern and Robert King.
Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife, Janet; sons, Jonathan and Rich; daughter, Julie (Scott) Krohn; sister, Margie (Charlie) Helwig; sister-in-law, Susie; and grandchildren, Lacey, Madison, Zander, and Aber Krohn.
His family and friends will remember John for his sense of humor, kindness, loving spirit, and generosity.
Friends and family will be received at Sujkowski Walker Funeral Home, Rossford, OH (419-666-1566) on Thursday, July 14, 2022, from 3:00 pm – 8:00 pm and Friday, July 15, 2022, at 10:00 am with a funeral service at 11:00 am. Burial will follow at Ft. Meigs Union Cemetery where he will receive military honors. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association or Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Toledo.
