John L. Kekes

John L. Kekes, 97, of Genoa, Ohio and formerly of Elmore and Toledo, Ohio, died Friday September 7, 2012 in the Genoa Retirement Village. John was born in Congo, Ohio on December 1, 1914 to Joseph and Elizabeth Suto Kekes. John had worked for the C & O Railroad for 35 years in Walbridge, Ohio and retired April 28, 1979. He was an avid gardener who loved working in his yard but his real passion was raising Dahlias. He was a life member of the Dahlia Society, of which he was very proud. In his spare time John enjoyed fishing especially his trips to Washington state Salmon fishing. John is survived by his daughter Kathy Glenn Truman of Genoa, grandchildren, Glenda Ken McClung, Shannon Jackie Truman, great-grandson, Troy Truman, and siblings, Susie Wiemer, Margaret Sattler, Helen Lazur, and Alex Kekes. He was preceded in death by his parents and 6 brothers and sisters. A service for John will be conducted at 11 AM, Monday, September 10, 2012 in the Robinson-Walker Funeral Home, 501 West St., Genoa, Ohio 43430, preceded by visitation from 9 AM until the time of service. Interment will be in the Clay Township Cemetery, Genoa. The family suggests memorials for John be directed to the Genoa Retirement Village, 300 Cherry St. Genoa, OH 43430.
