John "Jack" F. Werner

John ‘Jack’ F. Werner, 87, of Toledo, Ohio passed away while residing at Sunset House surrounded by his children on Sunday, September 5, 2021. Jack is survived by his children, John (Meg) Werner, Matthew (Lisa) Werner, James Werner, Andrew (Salli Bollin) Werner, Suzanne (Jason) Bentley, Stephen (Madalyn Ruggiero) Werner; son-in-law, Dean Chester and grandchildren, Hillary, Sam, Molly, Ben, Noah, Jack, Ben, Charlie, Emily, Ethan, Abigail, Nicholas, Giada and Giuliana. Jack was preceded in death by Judith M. Werner; daughter, Sarah M. Werner-Chester; and son, Gerald F. X. Werner. Jack graduated from Central Catholic High School in 1952 and the University of Toledo in 1956. Then Jack began his insurance career at Werner Insurance Agency which his father Charles D. Werner started in 1919. Jack was known as a gentleman and a scholar for his insurance language knowledge and love of policy pages and forms. Well known in the Alcoholics Anonymous community, Jack had an experienced, calming voice with a measure of hope and truth helping anyone reach and maintain sobriety. More than anything, Jack was a loving father to 8 children (in 9 years)!!! He always had a calm voice, no matter the news of the day. Many happy memories remain of family vacations, Christmas gatherings, birthdays, summers spent at the family cottage, boating and a rough-cheek bear hug. There was nothing more important to him than his children and we are just now able to realize it!!! A Catholic Funeral Mass will be said on Tuesday, September 21, 2021 at 10:00 AM at Corpus Christi University Parish located at 2955 Dorr Street, Toledo, OH 43607. In lieu of flowers, a memorial offering may be made to MemoryLane Care Services, 2500 N Reynolds Road, Toledo, OH 43615. Arrangements were handled by Walker Funeral Home, Toledo.
