John August Gorun

John August Gorun, age 75, passed away peacefully on May 22, 2012 at The Toledo Hospital. John was born July 23, 1936 to George and Helen Gorun, Alliance, OH, both proud immigrants of Romania. He graduated from Alliance High School and Mount Union College, where he was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity. He did his post-graduate work at The University of Toledo. John founded Legal Search, Inc., in 1975 from which he retired in 2010. He was active in the sailing community which he dearly loved, serving as Commodore of North Cape Yacht Club and also Commodore of the Toledo Ice Yacht Club. John was a member of numerous civic organizations and was a strong supporter and Board member of the Toledo Ballet Association. Survivors include his wife of 43 years, Judy, and his daughter, DeAnn and her husband, Kent Trobaugh. He leaves his much loved grandchildren, Madelyn and John Michael of Holland, OH. He also leaves his beloved niece and nephew, Kathy Mark Carpenter Tucker of Alliance, OH and Ken Marilyn of Tarpon Springs, FL. John was loved and admired by all with whom he came in contact, particularly for his kind, gentle manner and jovial spirit. He will be sadly missed. Friends may visit with the family at the Walker Funeral Home, 5155 W Sylvania Ave., west of Corey Rd. on Thursday from 3-9 pm where funeral services will be on Friday at 11 am.
