John W. Fouts

John W. Fouts, 80, of Woodville, Ohio, formerly of Oregon, departed this life on Monday, August 3, 2009, surrounded by his family after a brief but unexpected illness. He was born January 20, 1929, to Howard and Florence Bensman Fouts. John worked for 32 years at LOF and several more years for the C & O Railroad. He was a veteran of WWII stationed in Germany and a member of the Arthur Daly VFW Post in Toledo. John was an avid hunter and fisherman, who enjoyed these activities with both family and friends and was a big Ohio State fan, especially during the Woody Hayes Era. He also loved to travel and spent time sightseeing in both Europe and the United States. John was also an animal lover and from the birds at the park to the dogs on the street, he always made sure he had some kind of treat with him to feed them. He was always ready for a game of Euchre, which he rarely lost, and his great sense of humor and kindness won him many, many friends throughout his lifetime. Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 56 years, Lorna Williams, and his children Suanne, John, and Pat and his faithful canine companion, Bubba; also, special friends, Sam and Alice Horn, as well as nieces and nephews. John was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Paul Fouts. Johns family would like to thank all the staff at Bay Park Community Hospital and especially those who work in ICU for their loving care and support of John and his family during his illness. We will be forever grateful for their compassion. A memorial service will be held for John at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 8, 2009, at St. Marks Lutheran Church, 611 Woodville Rd., Toledo, Ohio, where friends and family are invited to gather at 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service. The family requests any memorial contributions in Johns name be made to Save A Pet, St. Marks Lutheran Church, or a charity of the donors choice. Arrangements have been handled by the Robinson-Walker Funeral Home & Crematory of Genoa.
