John W. “Jack” Flynn, 81, of Port Clinton, Ohio passed away on Saturday, August 10, 2019 at St. Lukes Hospital in Maumee, Ohio. He was born on September 19, 1937 in Trilby, Ohio, the son of the late Gerald and Bernice (DeShelter) Flynn. On September 22, 1956 he married Beverly Brown, childhood sweetheart and the love of his life. Jack worked as an Industrial Engineer at the former Standard Products in Port Clinton for over 38 years until his retirement. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Port Clinton where he served as a Eucharistic Minister. He also volunteered at the Liberty Aviation Museum, was a past member and Exalted Ruler of the Port Clinton Elks, and being active with the graduating class of 1955. Jack loved going on trips with Bev and his kids to Las Vegas and play video poker. He liked to win at playing the $1.35 card game. He loved the Buckeyes and was an avid Ohio State fan. Family was always his #1 priority and he was fondly known by his grandchildren as “Papa Jacket” and “Candy Jack”. He loved his family dearly and enjoyed many vacations with them. Survivors include his loving wife, Bev; children, Timothy (Brenda) Flynn, of Columbus, Tammy (Steve) Jones, of San Antonio, Theresa (Tom) Gahn, of Whitehouse, Tina (John) Smith, of Monroeville, Tracy (Rob) Bachman, of Columbus, and Tom Flynn, of Columbus; 23 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren, plus 2 on the way; sisters, Joyce Anderson, of Columbus, Phyllis Jones, of Port Clinton, and sister-in-law, Pilar Flynn, of Port Clinton. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Gerald Flynn, and his granddaughter, Nicole Flynn. Visitation will be held at the Gerner-Wolf-Walker Funeral Home, 216 Washington Street, Port Clinton, on Tuesday, August 13, 2019 from 6-8 pm. On Wednesday, August 14, 2019, prayers will begin at the funeral home at 9:30 am followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 414 Madison Street, Port Clinton, with Father John Missler officiating. Burial will follow in Riverview Cemetery, Port Clinton. Memorial contributions may be made to Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.
