John B. Fisher, Sr.

John B. Fisher, Sr., Age 91, formerly of Sylvania, Ohio, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 10, 2015 at Foundation Park Alzheimers Care Center where he had been a resident for the last 3 months. He was born at Flower Hospital on Nov. 11,1923 to Eugene and Eunice Fisher. He was a graduate of Devilbiss High School and while attending the University of Toledo, his college days were halted when World War II was declared. John and most of his friends immediately enlisted and chose the armed service of their choice. John became a Naval Air Cadet and received his WINGS OF GOLD after months of intense training and then served his country in the South Pacific. John piloted the Kingfisher, a sea float plane that was catapulted from the deck of the light cruiser, USS Boise which served as a flagship for General Douglas MacArthur. After his honorable discharge, John was employed by Toledo Plate & Window Glass Co. and Koder Concrete and then spent 38 years working for the Kuhlman Corp. He was a member of Highland Meadows Golf Club for 40 years where John along with his wife and sons, spent many fun filled summers and made lifelong friends. He will be remembered as an extremely kind, caring gentleman who was loved by everyone that knew him. He is survived by his bride of 70 years, Beverly; sons, John B. Jr. (Joan) and David H.;  4 grandsons, John, Joe E., David R. and Steven; 5 great grandchildren and brother, Eugene (Gloria) Fisher. He was predeceased by his daughter-in-law Marie and baby great granddaughter, Julia. Visitation will be at the Maison-Dardenne-Walker Funeral Home, 501 Conant St., Maumee, Ohio on Thursday, May 14, 2015 from 1:00p.m. until the time of services at 4:00 PM. Interment will be private.
