John D. Bredbeck

John D Bredbeck, 76, of Port Clinton, OH, passed away unexpectedly, Monday, February 10th, 2025 at Lakeland Regional Medical Center in Lakeland, FL. John was born on July 12, 1948 in Port Clinton, OH, the son of John Lockwood Bredbeck and Florence (Nissen) Bredbeck. On July 10, 1971, he married Margaret "Peggy" Bredbeck and she preceded him in death in 2012.

John was a graduate of Port Clinton High School and Bowling Green State University and a Veteran of the Army National Guard. After a long career in many roles at the Materion Corporation, John retired as a Supply Chain Manager in 2014.

John split his time in retirement between Port Clinton and Lakeland, FL. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed playing with friends and in multiple leagues throughout his life, worked at the Oak Harbor Golf Club after his retirement, and was active in the Elks Club. He loved coaching his children in youth sports and was active with First Tee in later years.

Survivors include: Daughter: Gretchen Bredbeck of Chapin, SC; Sons: Todd (Katie) Bredbeck of Stavanger, Norway and Jeff Bredbeck of Lakeland, FL; Grandchildren: Oliver, Jonah, Eleanor, and Simon. Brother: Lee (Natalie) Bredbeck of Port Clinton; Brother-in-law: Tom (Barbara) Frye of Florida; and fiancée Kelly Shaw of Lakeland, FL.

John is preceded in death by his wife, parents, and sister Carolyn (Reynolds).

Visitation will be held at the Gerner-Wolf-Walker Funeral Home, 216 Washington Street, Port Clinton, Ohio on Tuesday, February 18, 2025 from 2-4 and 6-8 pm. Additional visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 19, 2025 from 10 am until Funeral Services at 11 am at the funeral home with Pastor Jarrod Schaaf officiating.
