John G. Bitter

Bitter, John G. John G. Bitter, 76, of Walbridge, passed away on Thursday, April 2, 2015 . He was born on November 20, 1938 to George and Mabel (Beckman) Bitter. John proudly served in the United States Army and later worked as a Structural Ironworker for Henry Gurtzweiler retiring in 1998 after 42 years of service. He was often times found helping with the Commodity Food Program and the Senior Box Program through the VFW Post # 9963 where he was a social member. He also enjoyed watching NASCAR, camping and bowling. John leaves precious memories with his devoted wife, Clara to whom he married in 1984. He also leaves behind his loving children: Matthew (Sue) Bitter, Adam Bitter, and Rachel (Martin) Nielsen; stepchildren: John (Shelly) Bedford, Jim Bedford, Marge (Ron) Campbell, and Jeff (Kelly) Bedford; 34 grandchildren and 32 great grandchildren; sisters Elaine (Jim) Arnold, Wilma (Clarence) Smithers, Rachel Fox, and Marilyn Beckman. Preceding him in death were his stepchildren Joe Bedford, Jewel Bedford as well as 2 grandchildren. Friends will be received on Monday, April 6, 2015 from 2-8 P.M. and Tuesday April 7, 2015 from 2-8 P.M. with military honors slated for 7 P.M. at Witzler-Shank Funeral Home, 701 North Main Street, Walbridge, Ohio (419-666-3121) where funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 8, 2015 at 11 A.M.
