John Stewart Alexander died unexpectedly of natural causes at his home near Toledo, Ohio on May 15th, 2021. He was 61. John was a renaissance man, his life was full of adventures. He always had a smile on his face and was ready to help you. In the 80’s John joined his brothers as a member of their Steppenwolf polo team playing at Palm Beach Polo Club and Country Club, Gulfstream Polo Club Florida, Myopia Polo Club, Boston and Saratoga Polo, New York, helping to bring home tournament wins. Then he moved to the West coast where he won major ocean sailing races as owner and captain on his J/24 class sailboat. He competed in ocean racing including the Transpac Yacht race from Los Angeles to Hawaii. He sold diamonds, designed and created custom jewelry. John was an award winning trap shooter with a passion for muscle cars and motorcycles. He loved dogs and true to his unique style, John also had a ferret and a parrot. John lived most of his life with his family in Trabuco Canyon, California and several years in Las Vegas where he wrote, produced, directed and co-hosted The Three T’s of Health, a radio interview show with Dr. Thor Mongie. John recently returned to the Toledo area and his son Garrett joined him. Son of Sandrea Goerlich Alexander and grandson of John E. and Selma Goerlich. He is survived by his mother; sons, John Garrett and Dylan Alexander; brothers, Brad, AP, sister Wendy Kalil and his stepchildren, Sierra, Evan and Kyle Clark. John supported the Toledo Zoo, the Toledo Humane Society,Toledo Art Museum, Leadership Toledo and Sauder Village. Please share condolences on the Tribute Wall of this page.
