Johanna Robarge

July 10, 1912 — July 1, 2008

Johanna Robarge went to be with her Lord on Tuesday, July 1, 2008 from the Lutheran Village at Wolf Creek, Holland, Ohio. She had been under hospice care since the first of the year and at the Lutheran Village for just over two months. She would have been 96 years old on her birthday which is July 10. Johanna was the widow of James Robarge and George Lustic. She is survived by her children and their spouses; Rev. Haldon Robarge Margie of Greenville, Ohio, Barbara Eisenhauer Carl of Toledo, Ruth Mayer Rev. Gary of Frederickburg, of Texas, Paul Robarge Dianeof Sylvania and Tracy Lustic of Toledo; step-daughter, Cheryl McGeary Jim; brother, Ernest Ballert; and brother-in-law, Dan Robarge. She was preceded in death by her step-daughter, Carol Billeter Tom; brothers, William and Paul Ballert; and sister, Louise Elliott. She has 16 Grandchildren: John Robarge, James Robarge, Pamela Burns, Carl Eisenhauer, Cynthia Homan, Linda Curtis, James Mayer, Jeff Mayer, Jennifer Feutz; Becky Boros, Michelle Thielen, Susan Lashley, Kyle and Jason Billeter, and Megan and Jahn McGeary. She was a life-long member of St. James Lutheran Church. She was employed at Toledo Scale for 20 years where she worked in the blueprint room and served as the union steward. She enjoyed her work and her fellow employees. After her retirement in 1976, she attended all the monthly retirement meetings until her health prevented her from doing so. She had an unwavering faith in her Lord Jesus. Her family and church were extremely important to her. She was especially fond her 28 great grandchildren. Living on a poverty level income, she still managed to give her great grandchildren a monetary gift each birthday and Christmas. She was able to worship at St. James the Sunday before she died. She served as a volunteer in the office at St. James and was the Sunday School Superintendent for many years and visited the elderly and shut-ins. She was proud of her country and very patriotic. She was a life member of the VFW Post 606 and was regular at the fish fries of both the VFW and the American Legion. She proudly flew the United States flag at her home, on the balcony of her apartment, and had one in her room at the Lutheran Village. Her mind remained sharp right up until the last few of days of her life. She played scrabble the week before she died. Her son and a hospice care-giver played together against her and she still won.
