Joel Garcia

Joel Garcia, 89, of Genoa, Ohio, peacefully passed away on Wednesday, May 10, 2017, surrounded by his family. He was born in Houston, Texas, on March 11, 1928, to John and Mary (Guerra) Garcia. Joel was a hardworking man, who invested 25 years working at Martin Marietta in Woodville and 25 years working at Chrysler machining plant in Perrysburg, retiring in 1994. Joel was generous, kindhearted and humble. He loved his family dearly and was always full of entertaining advice. He had a passion for going on long drives through Genoa and sitting on his front porch drinking a beer, listening to music and waving at passing friends and neighbors. In Joes opinion, McDonalds had the best coffee in town, and he enjoyed treating his loved ones to a hot cup any time of day. His beloved family includes his children, Roy (Vikki) Garcia, Joel A. Garcia, Irene Garcia, Richard (Tammy) Garcia, Mary Ann Garcia and Albert (Jessica) Garcia. Joel also has four grandchildren, Joey Garcia, who preceded him in death, Jeff Garcia, Crystal Garcia, Melanie Torre and Brittany Stork. He had two great grandchildren, Paige Smith and Gavin Stork, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Joel was preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Trina Molina, Estefana Orozco, Isabell Arellano, Rutilia Castilleja and brother, Luis Garcia. Joel has three half-siblings, Juanita Perez, Lupe Garcia and John Garcia, Jr. A funeral service for Joel Garcia will be conducted 11:00 a.m., Monday, May 15, 2017, in the Robinson-Walker Funeral Home and Crematory, 501 West St, Genoa, OH 43430. Burial will follow in Clay Township Cemetery, Genoa. Visitation will be 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., Sunday, May 14, 2017, in the funeral home. The family suggests that memorial contributions for Joel be directed to Hospice of Northwest Ohio, 30000 E. River Rd., Perrysburg, OH 43551. Joels family would like to extend a special thank-you to Hospice of Northwest Ohio and Ryan, his aide, who helped care for Joel in his final months.
