Joe Ann Lumley, age 91 of Whitehouse, Ohio passed away on Thursday, May 1, 2014 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio. She was born on July 25, 1922 in Colquitt, Georgia to L. Robert and Maggie Marchant Nix. Joe Ann spent most of her life in Macon, Georgia, where she married Harold Lumley and started their family. She was among the first civilian women to be employed at Warner-Robbins Air Force Base which enabled them to purchase their first home. Harold and Joe Ann were very active in the United Methodist Church and served in many capacities. They were leaders in the Lay Witness Movement, and traveled internationally for the church with the Lay Renewal efforts. Joe Ann had a loving heart and never met a stranger. She was the glue that held the family ties together and fostered a love that is several generations rich. Joe Ann is survived by her children, Harold Beverly Lumley and Cheryl Chris Klueber; grandchildren, Jonathan Kelli; Cotter Becky; Chris Danielle; Rachel; Stephen Sara; Rebekah; Miriam; Sam and Joanna; 9 great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings, Alchia Bowers; Marvin Nix; Frank Nix; Evelyn Nix and Ruth Smitha. Friends and family will gather at the Waterville United Methodist Church, 102 N 5th St, Waterville, Ohio, on Saturday, May 10, 2014 from 10:00 AM until the time of service at 11:00 AM.
