Joe W. Haberkamp

Joe W. Haberkamp, 69, of Toledo, passed away Saturday, June 22, 2013, at St. Anne Mercy Hospital. He was born August 1, 1943, in Toledo, and was the son of Wilfred and Lilas Bertke Haberkamp. Joe was a graduate of the University of Toledo, with a Bachelors Degree in Business. He served honorably in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. Joe was an accountant at Doehler-Jarvis for 23 years and more recently for Electro-Prime for 20 years. Joe had a deep faith in God and was a member of Christ Presbyterian Church. He was an avid reader of mystery novels and a big fan of the Detroit Red Wings, Detroit Tigers, Toledo Mud Hens and Ohio State football. Joe also loved Indy Car Racing and attended the Indy 500 for more than 50 years, spanning 4 generations of his family. Joe loved to play poker, especially Texas Hold em with his family, and was a member of a monthly poker group. Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Connie Haberkamp; sons, Kevin Sue Haberkamp, Keith Haberkamp and Kent Haberkamp; grandchildren, Lucas and Emily Haberkamp; and sister, Jane David Menichetti. He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Rebecca Haberkamp; brothers-in-law, David Caverly and Robert Judy Caverly; as well as his nieces and nephews. Joe was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Lee Haberkamp; and nephew, Gregory Haberkamp. Friends are invited to visit on Friday, June 28th, from 2-9 pm, in the Walker Funeral Home, 5155 Sylvania Avenue. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 29th at 1 pm, in Christ Presbyterian Church, 4225 Sylvania Avenue, Toledo, OH. Interment will be private.
