Joanne E. Smith

Joanne E. Smith, 82, of Clay Center, Ohio died Friday, January 27, 2017 at Mercy-St. Charles Hospital, Oregon, Ohio. Joanne was born in Martin, Ohio on December 1, 1934 to John H. and Emma (Scharer) Dreyer and on March 28, 1954 in Elliston, Ohio she married Richard L. Smith. Richard preceded her in death on May 26, 1985. Joanne was a homemaker who loved to cook, sew, crochet and attend the Genoa Senior Center activities. She cherished her family and was always there to help. Joanne was a member of the former Clay Center Presbyterian Church. Joanne is survived by her children, Joyce (Dennis) Hutton, Diana (Butch) White, Tina Sweet, Robert (Regina) Smith, Sr., Phillip (Wanda) Smith, 13 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren, 10 great-great grandchildren and brothers, Russell (Peggy) Dreyer and Richard Dreyer. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband. A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m., Wednesday, February 1, 2017 in the Robinson-Walker Funeral Home Crematory, 501 West St. Genoa, OH 43430. Visitation will be in the funeral home from 2-8 p.m., Tuesday, January 31. Interment will be in the Lake Township Cemetery, Millbury, Ohio. The family suggests memorials for Joanne be directed to the Allen-Clay Joint Fire Dist., Station #35, 3155 N. Genoa-Clay Center Rd., Genoa, OH 43430.
