Joanne M. Smalley

Joanne M. Smalley, 59, of Temperance, MI passed away at her home on March 15, 2017. She was born in Toledo on February 12, 1958 to Fredrick and Ruth (Niemeyer) Roth. Joanne was a carrier for the Toledo Blade for the past 22 years. Joanne enjoyed crafting, reading, collecting coca-cola memorabilia, listening to music and would always dance along to a good song. She enjoyed playing cards and always had a great time taking trips with her girl cousins and her sister, who she loved very much. She had a huge spot in her heart for animals and would take in any stray cat that she found. She also loved the color purple. But Above all else, what she loved the most in her life was her family. She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. She was always kind to others, and always looked for the good in people. She was a friend to all who knew her. Her beautiful smile will never be forgotten. She will be greatly missed. Joanne is survived by her children, Joshua, Angela, Anthony, Jacob and Zackary; grandchildren, Nathan, Anna, Jonathon and Carson; siblings, Jim (Gail), David, Patty Broome and Larry (Cathy) Roth; and many relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents. A memorial service will be held at 4 pm on Sunday, March 19, 2017 at Toledo Memorial Park Mausoleum Chapel of Peace where visitation will begin at 2 pm. Pastor Andy Hill officiating. Inurnment will take place at a later date at Union Cemetery in Erie Township, MI.
