Joanne G. Ross

Joanne G. Ross, 86, of Perrysburg, passed away Wednesday, September 27, 2017 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio. Joanne was born June 18, 1931 in Chicago, IL to Joseph and Vesper (Bloomquist) Gliot. Joanne married Jack Ross on March 20, 1954 in Chicago, IL and he preceded her in death on August 25, 2005. She earned her Bachelor’s degree from Bowling Green State University with a major in education, where she was a member of the Gamma Phi Beta sorority. Joanne taught pre-school at Grace Nursery School in Perrysburg for 20 years, serving many of those years as director of the program. She delighted in running into many of her former students and families in Perrysburg throughout her life. She became a member of First United Methodist Church in Perrysburg after re-locating to Perrysburg in the 1950’s. She taught Sunday school for many years and also participated in adult Sunday school, various administrative committees, circles and most recently was part of the usher team. The church community was extended family for Joanne. She was preceded in death by her husband Jack and her parents. She is survived by her children David (Tamara) Ross, Karen (Rob) McClellon and Steve (Barb) Ross, grandchildren Ross McClellon, Tyler Ross, Hope Ross and Eleanor Campbell, sister Barbara (Gordon) Schiefelbein and many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. Consistent with Joanne’s lifelong desire to stay out of the spotlight, she will quietly be laid to rest with Jack in a private ceremony. The family would like to thank the professionals of St. Luke’s Hospital, the Manor or Perrysburg and Hospice of Northwest Ohio for their humor, patience and compassion.
