Joanne Hummel

Joanne F. Hummel, age 89, passed away February 18, 2023. Joanne was an unit/office clerk for the Toledo Hospital and before that, Fry Brothers Heating and Air Conditioning. Joanne was married to the love of her life, Frank, for 63 years and had two children, David and Sharon.

Joanne loved the Lord and was a wonderful wife, mother and friend. She took really good care of her family and loved to cook and bake for them. Family members will remember her German Potato Salad. It was requested and a favorite at every family event. Joanne loved to read. She would read on her exercise bike and before she went to sleep every night. She also loved music and loved to sing. Joanne had a wonderful voice and was a member of The Glee Club at Whitmer High School.

Joanne had a kind heart and wonderful sense of humor. She would laugh at any joke no matter how bad it was and was voted “Most likely to laugh at your joke” at the Grove Nursing home. Her laugh was contagious, and she had many friends.

Joanne is survived by her husband, Frank; her son, David, Mary; step grandson Collin; cousins, Emma Ersepke, George and Kathy Schoembs, Anna Guncelmann, Richard Guncelmann and wife, Annamarie; son-in-law & wife, Joe and Maryanne Goodell; brother-in-law, Donald Hummel; and many nieces and nephews. Joanne was preceded in death by her daughter, Sharon; and her parents Waldemar and Katherine.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, February 26, 2023 from 2:00 to 7:00 p.m. in the Walker Funeral Home, 5155 W. Sylvania Ave, Toledo, OH 43623. Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 27, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Toledo Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society and/or Memorial Lutheran Church in Toledo.
