Joanne Frances Gorman

Gorman JoAnne Frances JoAnne Frances Gorman passed away Friday, September 26, 2008 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio in Perrysburg. JoAnne was born October 10, 1924 in Elizabeth, NJ to Edward and Julie Bart and later attended Miami University in Oxford, OH. JoAnne worked in bookkeeping and as a recruiter in the insurance industry before becoming a licensed realtor. She was a realtor in the Toledo area for over 20 years, mostly with the Danberry Company. In addition to her professional accomplishments, JoAnne was also a dedicated volunteer. She spent many hours as both a Girl Scout and a Boy Scout leader, lay distributor at Flower Hospital, CCD teacher, RCIA volunteer, reading helper at Highland Elementary School, volunteer probation officer with Lucas County Juvenile Court, and also volunteered at Olander Park. JoAnnes adventurous spirit led her to fly a plane at age 78 and pursue a childrens book writing class in her early 80s. JoAnne is survived by her sons, Stephen Andrea Gorman, MD and Kevin Wendy Gorman, Ed.D.; daughter, Leslie Bill Albring and Rose Jeff Versteeg; grandchildren, Stephen and Phillip Gorman, Katie Gorman-Ezell Brian, Julie Gorman, Gretchen Trucker, Alex and Riley Albring, and Samantha and John Liebig; and great-grandson, Conner Gorman. She was preceded in death by her husband, Stephen M. Gorman and brother, Edward Bart. The family wishes to express their gratitude to Angela Love and the nurses and staff at Hospice of Northwest Ohio in Perrysburg for their compassionate care of JoAnne in recent weeks. Visitation will be Sunday from 4-8:00pm at the Walker Funeral Home, 5155 Sylvania Ave. west of Corey Rd. with a Scripture Service at 7:30pm. A Memorial Mass will be held at 10:00am Monday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 5411 Main Street, Sylvania, OH. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Gorman Fund @ Olander Park, 6930 W. Sylvania Ave. Sylvania, OH 43560.
