Joann A. Thompson

JoAnn A. Thompson, 81, of Oak Harbor, OH passed away peacefully Sunday, February 14, 2016 at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born on January 12, 1935 in Toledo, OH then adopted by Otto C. and Anna (Olson) Michael. On April 28, 1956 at St. Johns Ev. Lutheran Church in Oak Harbor she married Marvin L. Thompson, and he survives. JoAnn worked as a secretary for the Oak Harbor Chamber of Commerce, Ohio Blenders, and Sears Zone Offices. She was a former member of St. John Ev. Lutheran Church, Oak Harbor and current member of Grace Community Church, Fremont. JoAnn and Marvin enjoyed spending their winters in Florida and their church family at Liberty Baptist Church, St. Petersburg, FL. She was a former member of the Oak Harbor Womens Golf League and enjoyed cooking, gardening, and golfing. JoAnn especially loved to spend time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. In addition to her loving husband Marvin of over 59 years, JoAnn is survived by her sons: David M. (Patricia) Thompson of Toledo and Mark W. (Terri) Thompson of Fremont, daughter: Susan C. (John) Weidner of Oak Harbor, 7 grandchildren: Kelly (John) Biggert, Amanda Lenke, Daniel (Erica) Thompson, Alecia Thompson, Jamie Thompson, Nicholas (fiancé Jenny McDowell and kids: Andrew Adrianna) Thompson, and Brooke (Mike) Bergum, and 9 great grandchildren: Erica Biggert, Emily Biggert, Taylor Lenke, Tucker Lenke, Lily Thompson, Ella Thompson, Lauren Bergum, Bradley Bergum, and Garrett Bergum. She was preceded in death by her parents. Memorial services for JoAnn will be conducted 11:00 a.m., Friday, February 19, 2016 at Grace Community Church, 900 Smith St., Fremont where family and friends may visit from 9:00 - 11:00 a.m. prior to the services. In lieu of flowers, memorials for JoAnn may be given to Life Is Good No Matter What Organization, Grace Community Church Building Fund, or Heartland Hospice. Robinson-Walker Funeral Home Crematory, Oak Harbor is assisting the family with arrangements.
