Joann Hankenhof Glick

d. October 10, 1938

On Friday, April 20, 2018, JoAnn (Hankenhof) Glick, 79, of Perrysburg, passed away at Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Perrysburg. JoAnn was born in Toledo on October 10, 1938, to Earl and Josephine (Fisher) Hankenhof. JoAnn was a proud 1957 graduate of Central Catholic High School. She married her high school sweetheart, Ronald J. Glick, on June 2, 1962, in Toledo. While moving numerous times for business purposes with her family throughout the country, as a devout Catholic, she maintained and shared her faith. She made everyone around her comfortable. She developed friendships all over the world while traveling to twenty-seven countries. JoAnn has written international and family cookbooks. She was the founder of one of the Toledo Museum of Art’s longest continuous running gallery groups, Palate to Palette. Upon moving to Gig Harbor, Washington, with her leadership and direction, she started a similar group at the Tacoma Museum of Art. JoAnn was a gifted artist, from calligraphy to clay, from quilting to stained glass. She designed birdhouses which she enjoyed creating for friends and family and formed her own online pottery business, Glick Summer Homes. JoAnn truly loved creating personalized birthday cards for her family and special friends. JoAnn enjoyed her many collections including beach sand from all over the world, dolls, and personal treasures. JoAnn was extremely active. She played tennis, platform tennis, golf, and even aced a hole in one at Sylvania Country Club. JoAnn loved adventure. She rode in a hot air balloon, took helicopter rides over Mount St. Helens, and traveled in a Concord jet. You never missed a party that JoAnn was hosting. She was the ultimate party host and organizer, planning events for business and pleasure. JoAnn loved surrounding herself near water, whether a cottage on a lake, a condo on the Gulf, or a home on the Puget Sound. As a wife, JoAnn was totally supportive to the man she “loved to pieces!” They shared a wonderful life together with their “arms up” during their marriage of almost 56 years. As a parent, JoAnn dedicated herself to her five children and their passions. Continuous support and love led to continuous successes. JoAnn was active in all her children’s activities such as being a scout leader and number one fan. As a grandparent, JoAnn showed love and compassion to all fourteen grandchildren. Her guidance and example has provided them with a great road to success. But her biggest and greatest accomplishment lives in the faces and lives of those she has touched and blessed. JoAnn is survived by her husband Ronald Glick; Children: Douglas (Jane) Glick, Angela (Michael) Parker, Michael (Lynn) Glick, R.J. (Traci) Glick and Paul (Casey) Glick; Grandchildren: Sarah, Adam, and Connor Glick, Chris, Joey, and Mikey DiPofi, Kayla and Kyle Parker, Christy, Ali, and Jon Glick, Averi, Taylor and Meghan Glick; Brother: David (Nancy) Hankenhof; Sister-in-Law: Clare Hankenhof. JoAnn was preceded in death by her parents and brothers Eugene and Richard (Betty) Hankenhof. Friends will be received in the Witzler-Shank Funeral Home 222 E. S.
