Joann M. Christ

JoAnn M. Christ age 82 of Toledo passed away Saturday, January 25, 2014 in the Toledo Hospital. She was born June 1, 1931 in Toledo to Fredrick and Anna Hohenbrink. A graduate of Notre Dame Academy she maintained her commitment to Catholic education by sending her daughters to Notre Dame and her son to St. Johns Jesuit High School. Active in her parish, she was past president of Christ the King Rosary and Altar Society and she and her late husband were in charge of the annual parish festivals at both Christ the King and St. Johns Jesuit High School. JoAnn was a kitchen designer for the former Builders Square, and a sales clerk at Hancock Fabrics. She enjoyed knitting, sewing and crafts and was an avid sports fan of Notre Dame Football and Red Wing Hockey. The widow of Richard Christ, Sr. she was also preceded in death by daughter MaryJo Christ-Spohn and son-in-law Steve Spohn. Surviving are her children Kathy Allan Bricker, Richard Diane Christ, Jr., Sandy Brian Wcislek Measles, Jean Thomas Walker and Sue Mike Jewell; 12 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. Friends may visit the family on Tuesday from 2-9 PM at the Walker Funeral Home, 5155 W. Sylvania Ave. west of Corey Rd. where funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11 AM.
