Joan M. Lukac

Joan M. Lukac passed away on Tuesday, July 29, 2014 with her children at her side. She was born on June 20, 1929 to Arthur and Marie (Zeller) Lundgard, Sr. and was a lifelong resident of Port Clinton, Ohio. She was a proud member of the Port Clinton High School Class of 1949 and maintained close friendships with many of her classmates over the years. Joan worked in the office at Standard Products after graduation until she married Joseph P. Lukac, Jr, on August 25, 1956. She was later the secretary for Don Waggoner, PE. Joan (or Joanie) loved to entertain family and friends. She enjoyed cooking and baking along with her hobby of decorating cakes. Her cakes were the center of each family celebration. Joan was a dedicated member of St. John Lutheran Church and served as a Sunday School Teacher, helped with the church bazaars and was a member of the Child Guidance Council. Survivors include her son James (Jackie) Lukac and daughter Jan (John, Jr) Gluth both of Port Clinton, grandchildren: Stephen (Abby) Lukac; Emily (Justin) Blackburn; Amy (Tyler) Myers, Melissa (Todd) Kapp, Trey Gluth and Marie Gluth; step-grandchildren: Jessica (Jeff) Hirt and Donnie McCune; 7 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Joan was preceded in death by her parents, husband Joe, sister Arlene Miller and brother Arthur “Red” Lundgard Jr. Friends may call 7-9pm, Thursday, July 31, 2014 in the Gerner-Wolf-Walker Funeral Home & Crematory, 216 Washington St., Port Clinton, OH. Funeral service will be conducted by Rev. James Lehman at 11:00am, Friday, August 01, 2014 in St. John Lutheran Church, Port Clinton, OH. Interment will be in Riverview Cemetery, Port Clinton, OH. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Joan’s memory to St. John Lutheran Church or to Stein Hospice.
