Joan M. Dowling, of Toledo, OH, passed away on August 14, 2025. She was born October 18, 1950, in Toledo, OH, and remained a lifelong resident of the community she loved.
Joan attended the University of Toledo before beginning a long and dedicated career with the United States Postal Service, where she proudly served as a mail carrier for 36 years. She valued hard work and the many friendships she formed along her route.
A devoted sports fan, Joan cheered faithfully for the Green Bay Packers and the Atlanta Braves, never missing an opportunity to root for her favorite player, Chipper Jones. She also had a deep love for music and could often be found attending concerts by local artist Chris Shutters, whose performances she greatly enjoyed.
Joan had a spirited personality and especially loved celebrating St. Patrick’s Day with friends, a tradition that brought her much joy and laughter over the years. She was also a wonderful sister, always supportive, loving, and deeply cherished by her family.
She will be remembered for her loyalty, her warm heart, and her ability to make the most of life’s simple pleasures.
Joan is survived by her brothers, Jeff Dowling and Donald (Nora) Dowling. She was preceded in death by her parents, Gerald and Zelaine Dowling; brother, David Dowling; and sister, Carolyn Mohon.
