Joan A. Dietrich

Joan “Pootsie” Dietrich passed away November 19, 2022. She was born Joan Dahlstedt on May 1, 1933 and died at age 89. She grew up in Port Wing, Wisconsin, and graduated high school in 1951. She moved to Cedarburg, Wisconsin, where she met and married Rev. Elroy Dietrich. Joan served as a pastor’s wife at St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church in Elizabeth (Schapville), Illinois, St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Casco (Peters), Michigan, Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Toledo, Ohio, St. James Lutheran Church in Rogers City, Michigan and Trinity Lutheran Church in Ocqueoc, Michigan, active in several groups throughout. She and Elroy moved to Genoa, Ohio after his retirement to be with family. She worked as a clerk and cashier at Macy’s in Toledo, Ohio for several years.

Joan is preceded in death by her parents Carl and Mary Dahlstedt, husband Elroy Dietrich, brother Carl Dahlstedt, sister Marilyn Bennett, granddaughter Rachel Volschow, great-grandson Grant Volschow, friend David Morey, and her best and oldest friend, Anna Mae Morey, who passed just a few days before her. She is survived by her son Carl Dietrich (Megan Kerr), daughter Krista Dietrich (Tim Luetzow), grandchildren Kerrie Sanchez Rodriguez (Victorino Rodriguez) and Casie Dietrich (Kasey DeMelo), great-grandchildren Madilyn Rodriguez, Victorino Rodriguez, and Madison Volschow (Cullin Liskai), great-great-grandchild Colt Liskai, dear friends Sharon Dietrich, Margaret Sattler, Nancy Pries, Dawn Balduf, Jerry and Karen Counterman, and many more friends and family.

The Memorial service will be held December 12, 2022 at Grace Lutheran Church, 19225 W. Witty Rd., Elmore Ohio 43416 at 11:00 am. Her ashes will be interred at Trinity Lutheran Church, Ocqueoc, Michigan, beside her husband’s at a future date. Memorial contributions in her name may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice. Online condolences may be shared at www.walkerfuneralhomes.com. The Robinson-Walker Funeral Home & Crematory of Genoa, Ohio is assisting with arrangements.
