Joan Condit

Joan M. Condit, 91, of Ottawa Hills, died Monday morning October 17, 2016 at Sunset House. Joan was born June 18, 1925 in Toledo to Dr. Foster and Grace Myers. Joan attended Scott High School and worked at the Jeep Plant during World War II. Joan graduated from the University of Michigan in 1947. Joan married Elnathan C. Condit on April 21, 1956 and they moved to Ottawa Hills in 1970. Joan was active in the United Way of Toledo, the AFS-USA Program at Ottawa Hills High School and the Toledo Country Club. Joan enjoyed University of Michigan football, her Standard Poodles, annual summer trips to Cape May, N.J and cheering on the many athletic endeavors of her grandchildren. Joan is survived by her daughter, Barbara (Christopher) Canning; grandchildren, Elizabeth Condit Canning and Christopher S. Canning, Jr.; and brother, Foster Myers. Joan was preceded in death by her husband, Elnathan C. Condit; and her parents, Dr. Foster and Grace Myers. Private interment will be at Woodlawn Cemetery. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, November 23, 2016 at St. Michael’s in the Hills Episcopal Church, 4718 Brittany Rd., Ottawa Hills. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Ottawa Hills High School for the benefit of the International Student Exchange Association.
