Jim “Tank” Lowry, age 72, went to his eternal home on May 27, 2015 surrounded by family at his home in Toledo, OH. Jim was born December 16, 1942 in Maumee, Ohio to the late James and Helen Lowry. He was a graduate of Maumee High School and remained a Panther football fan all of his life. Jim “Papa” was a devoted family man and his children’s and grandchildren’s greatest supporter attending football games, 4-H competitions, concerts, and dance recitals. His family was of the utmost importance and his grandchildren found a special place in his heart that no one else could reach. Throughout his life Jim enjoyed traveling and visited the majority of our great nation in his Ford truck with his family and camper in tow. He was a diehard University of Michigan football fan, a self-proclaimed comedian, enjoyed playing (some say cheating at) cards, never met a stranger that he didn’t befriend, and loved making children smile. Jim worked as Tool and Die Maker for Lowry Manufacturing, Inc. and then the Ford Motor Company where he retired in 2004. During his time at the Ford Motor Company he also served as a volunteer firefighter, an emergency medical first responder, and HAZ-MAT technician. Jim was preceded in death by his parents; father-in-law John Boles; uncle, Frank Lowry; sisters-in-law, Sandy Kramer, Sue Boles, and Dawn Lowry; and brother-in-law Tony Kramer. He is survived by his wife and best friend, Shari (Boles) Lowry; mother-in-law Louise Boles; children, Michael (Jeri Ann) Lowry, Judi (Dann) Sternsher, Chad Lowry, and Nicole (Jon) McKenzie; grandchildren James, Randi, Josh, Katie and Annabelle; brothers Bill (Larisa) Lowry, Larry (Dianne) Lowry; brother-in-law John (Kathi) Boles; nephews Blair (Megan) Kramer, Ryan (Betsy) Boles, Mike Kramer, William Lowry, Bruce Lowry, Matt (Adrienne) Lowry, Larry (Julie) Lowry; nieces Samantha Boles, Toni Ann (Ed) Hamilton, Betsy (Joe) Taggart, Jennifer Heninger, and Annette Freiburger. Jim’s family would like to express their deep appreciation for all of his loving friends who have become like extended family; we are overwhelmed by your kindness, love, and support. Friends and family will be received on Tuesday, June 2, 2015 at the Maison-Dardenne-Walker Funeral Home, 501 Conant St. Maumee, OH from 2:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday June 3, 2015 at 11:30 a.m. in the Trinity Lutheran Church, 4560 Glendale Ave., Toledo, OH.
