The Rev. Mrs. Jettie Ellen Loveday Dixon Gohn Rawlins, age 96, of Sylvania died Monday, July 13, 2015 at home surrounded by her loving family. She was born on March 6, 1919 in Slab Fork, West Virginia to Elbert Elester and Rosetta Hannah Loveday. Jettie received her minister’s license on June 1, 1950, she began her ministry evangelizing throughout the New England states, Georgia and Illinois. In 1950 Jettie saw a need in Cheshire, OH where she opened a mission in her parents’ home. The mission flourished and soon after they organized the Church of God of Prophecy in 1953 which is now located in Gallipolis, OH. She continued her ministry with the Church of God of Prophecy of Cleveland, TN in Cheshire, Wellston, Painesville and Elida, OH. During her ministry, Jettie received 12 honor pins, her 12th pin being a double honor pin for services rendered. She taught adult Sunday school for 41 years and after retiring from her ministry in 1965, she began working at the State Hospital on Detroit Ave. in Toledo where for 18 years she continued to teach Sunday school. Jettie loved to write and sing gospel songs, write poetry and short stories. She loved every aspect of gardening from planting and harvesting to canning vegetables. Her yard was always full of beautiful flowers that she grew. Vacation was time for her to catch Pike and Bass in the St. Lawrence River. She is survived by her loving children, Angeline Rosetta Dixon Clark (The Late Richard) Brown of Worthington, OH, Sara Katheryn Gohn Harmon (John) Roberts of Holland, OH; grandchildren, Virginia Ellen Clark (John) White of Columbus, OH, April L. Harmon (Nathan) Hitzke of Toowoomba, QLD., Australia; great grandchild, Chloe A. Hitzke of Toowoomba, QLD., Australia. She is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins, as well as many dear friends and pen pals. Jettie was preceded in death by her parents, Elbert and Rosetta Loveday; husbands, W. Warren Rawlins, James “Shorty” Gohn and Meredith M. Dixon; brothers, Garland (Louise) Loveday, Ernest (Irene) Loveday, Marvin (Zeffie) Loveday; sisters, Mildred (Clyde) Davis and Elsie (Harold) McComas. Graveside services were held on Saturday, July 18, 2015 at Vinton Memorial Cemetery located in Vinton, Ohio.
