Jerry L. Wiechman, 61, of Oak Harbor, died Tuesday, July 7, 2015, at Stein Hospice In-Patient Unit, Sandusky, Ohio. He was born on January 5, 1954, in Fremont, Ohio, to Virgil and Yvonne (Rummery) Wiechman. On November 20, 1976, in Port Clinton, Ohio, he married Kathy Gulau and she survives. Jerry worked construction for Local #480 for 37 years before retiring on October 1, 2013. He was a member of St. Pauls Lutheran Church, Oak Harbor. Jerry enjoyed hunting, especially waterfowl hunting, fishing, camping, snowmobiling, ice fishing, seine fishing, turtle trapping, and dirt track racing. He really enjoyed being the pit crew chief for his son, Alex. Jerry was always ready to help people. He loved his family and spent nearly every day with his grandson, Charlie. Jerry loved to laugh and was known for always being ready to joke and for his quick wit. He will be greatly missed by family and friends. In addition to his loving wife, Kathy, of 38 years, he is survived by his son, Alex H. (Charlene) Wiechman, daughter, Kristen E. (Jessica Boylan) Wiechman; grandchildren, Callie Wiechman, Charlie Wiechman, Grace Smith, and Johnny Smith; twin brother, Terry (Pam) Wiechman; brothers, Randy (Laura) and Mark (Brenda) Wiechman, sister, Pam (Jim) Parker; father, Virgil Wiechman, father and mother-in-law, Don & Miriam Gulau; and many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother, Yvonne Wiechman. Visitation for Jerry will be 4-8 p.m. on Thursday, July 9, 2015, at the Robinson-Walker Funeral Home & Crematory, Oak Harbor. Memorial services will be conducted by Pastor Cheryl Wessel at 11:00 a.m., Friday, July 10, 2015, at St. Pauls Lutheran Church.
