Jerry Scott Huskey, known to all as Scott, passed away suddenly on Tuesday, January 14, 2025, at the age of 62. A lifelong resident of Port Clinton, Ohio, Scott was born on July 25, 1962, to Ronald and Jeanne (Fillmore) Huskey. He was a proud graduate of Port Clinton High School and dedicated much of his life to his work as a heavy equipment operator at Focht Construction, where he spent his entire career. Over the years, he operated cranes and even played a part in the tradition of dropping the Walleye on New Year’s Eve.
Outside of work, Scott found peace and joy on the water. He cherished his time spent boating and fishing, enjoying the calm of nature. He was a fan of old western movies, spending hours relaxing in front of the screen, and he could often be found working outdoors, whether tending to projects or just appreciating the open air. He had a sweet tooth, particularly for ice cream, and enjoyed grilling, especially his beloved fish sticks, and experimenting with his air fryer.
He found comfort in his time spent with friends at the VFW. Above all, Scott's greatest love was his family, especially his late wife, Susan, who passed away in 2017. He is survived by his sister, Amy (Dale) Bean; daughters, Ashleigh (Joshua) Cravens, Kristy (Justin) Cross; son, Jonathan Faretta; and grandchildren, Evalee, Elias, Cali, and Willow. He was preceded in death by his wife and parents.
A celebration of Scott’s life will be held at a later date, in the care of the family.
He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
