Jenifer Loskorn, 67, of Martin, Ohio, passed away Tuesday, December 27, 2022, at Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Perrysburg, Ohio. Jenifer was born at St. Charles Hospital in Oregon, Ohio on August 19, 1955, to Ray A. and Arlene H. (Wilkinson) Baltzell and married Bryan Loskorn on September 22, 1990.
Jenifer attended Geneva High School in Geneva IL after living in a variety of places during her childhood. She attended Western Illinois University for her bachelor's degree, then moved to Colorado to attain her master's degree in geology at the Colorado School of Mines
Jenifer married Bryan Loskorn in 1990 in Las Vegas Nevada surrounded by friends and family. They started their marriage in Bowling Green, OH then moved to Martin, OH in the home Jenifer’s parents, and grandparents once owned. There they raised three children.
Jenifer worked in several restaurants over the years including Mill Race Inn, Don’s, Ernesto’s, Susan’s Second Act, Sidelines, Portage Inn, Crazy Lady Saloon, and most recently, Madison Street Tavern in Gibsonburg. She also owned and operated the Elmore Bowling Alley for several years.
She was well-known by her friends and customers for her kindness. She treated everyone she met with respect and treated them as equals. She instilled that into her children and anyone else that she could share that message with. That turned out to be a lot of people because she was a true conversationist. She could just as easily make small talk as she could talk about philosophy and life.
Jenifer was adventurous and loved to travel. She could make friends anywhere she went. Over the years she visited nearly every US state. She lived in Ohio, Illinois, Colorado, North Carolina, and Minnesota, but spent the majority of her life in Northwest Ohio.
In her work life, she cooked, managed people, served drinks, hosted, and did everything else it takes to run a restaurant. At home, she displayed those same skills. She was well known for cooking for anyone that walked through her door day or night. Most of the time she cooked feasts without being hindered by recipes. She occasionally cooked two large turkeys during holidays “just to make sure we have leftovers.”
Her love of animals (except snakes) was a big part of her life. She had many dogs and would encourage as many people as possible to get their own pets. Often successfully. Sometimes at her own expense. She had dogs, cats, rabbits, and ponies in her life.
She loved music and seemed to know just about every song you might find on a jukebox. If you spent time on her back patio, it was rare to not have music playing.
She will be greatly missed. Not just by her family, but by all of the people that she met in her full life. Our family has been humbled by all of the people reaching out to share their love and respect for Jenifer. We’re thankful to have been a part of her life.
A special thanks to Jodi Mercer Colvin, Chris Bloom, Kathy Campbell, and all of the other friends and family that helped and supported Jen and her family through her time in hospice.
Jenifer is survived by her husband Bryan Loskorn, mother Arlene Baltzell, sister Cynthia (Edward) Green, son Josh (Angie) Baltzell, daughter Kaitlyn (Dylan) Gargac, son Hank Loskorn, grandson Jackson Baltzell, grandson Grayson Baltzell, and Carmie (Bill) Pettingell who Jenifer always referred to as her sister. She was preceded in death by her father Ray Baltzell.
