Jeffrey K. Rev. Dr. Kimpel

Rev. Dr. Jeffrey Kent Kimpel, 67, of Perrysburg, Ohio passed away on February 5, 2014 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio after a short illness. He was born on February 14, 1946 in Lima, Ohio to Earl “Rocky” and JoAnn (McClain) Kimpel. On June 27, 1970 in Westerville, Ohio, Jeffrey married the love of his life, Louise Hinkle and together they started a family. Rev. Dr. Kimpel was a graduate of Wittenberg University where he was a member of the Beta Theta Pi Fraternity. He graduated with a Masters in Divinity from The Lutheran Theological Seminary, in Columbus, Ohio. He received his Doctor of Ministry from St. Mary’s Seminary and the University of Baltimore. He was deeply rooted to his faith and he served many communities, churches and parishioners, including St. John Lutheran Church in Rocky Ridge, Ohio, St. Mark in Toledo, Ohio, St. John’s in Fowlerville, Michigan, St. Luke’s in Lima, Ohio and Zion Lutheran in Perrysburg (Lake Township), Ohio. He devotedly served as a pastor for over 37 years before his retirement in January of 2009. Rev. Dr. Kimpel is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Louise Kimpel, son, Jamie (Rosalinda) Kimpel, mother, JoAnn Kimpel and brother, Dan Kimpel. He is preceded in death by his son, Michael D. Kimpel and father, Earl “Rocky” Kimpel. Friends will be received on Sunday, February 9, 2014 from 4:00 to 8:00 P.M. and on Monday, February 10, 2014 from 2:00 to 8:00 P.M. in the Witzler-Shank Funeral Home, 222 East South Boundary St., Perrysburg, Ohio 43551 (419-874-3133). Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, February 11, 2014 at 10:00 A.M. at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 5520 Fremont Pike, Stony Ridge, Ohio 43463. Burial will be private.
