Jeffrey E. Goetz

Jeffrey E. Goetz, 55, of Genoa, died Tuesday, November 26, 2013, at the University of Toledo Medical Center. He was born January 28, 1958, in Oregon, Ohio, to Virgil H. and Marilyn J. Discher Goetz. Jeff graduated in 1976 from Genoa Area High School, where in September 2012, he and the 1975 football team were inducted into the Genoa Sports Hall of Fame. He also attended and graduated from Spring Arbor University. Jeff worked as a machinist for Atlas Industries in Gibsonburg, Ohio, for 18 years. He earned his Eagle Scout and served as scout master for several years. Jeff is survived by his parents of Genoa, sisters, Mary Michael Thompson and Diane Markham, brother, Robert V. Goetz, nieces and nephews, Michael and Lori Goetz and Andrew, Gregory and Bryan Markham, as well as aunts, uncles and cousins. A memorial service for Jeff will be held on Friday, April 25, 2014, at 1:00 p.m. at St. Johns United Church of Christ, Genoa. Burial will take place in Clay Township Cemetery. Memorials for Jeff may be directed to St. Johns UCC, 1213 Washington St., Genoa, OH 43430; or the American Diabetes Association, 300 Galleria Office Centre, Southfield, MI 48034. The Robinson-Walker Funeral Home Crematory of Genoa has assisted the family with arrangements.
