Jeannine Hoeffel

Jeannine L. Hoeffel, age 85, of Toledo passed away Friday January 16, 2015 in the Ebeid Residence.  She was born February 22, 1929 in Defiance, Ohio to Gerald C. and Lavina A. Hoeffel.  She was a 1947 graduate of Central Catholic High School and a 1951 graduate of Mary Manse College where she received her teaching degree.  She began her career in teaching at Lagrange School  then attended Indiana University where she received her Masters Degree.  After receiving her degree she taught in Michigan City, Indiana then went on to help the US military by teaching servicemens families in the Philippines, Japan and France for the US Navy and Air Force.  She returned to Toledo where she taught in Whittier School and Scott High School.  Jeannine began the french language program in the Washington Local Schools and then continued teaching french in Whitmer High School retiring in 1988.  She enjoyed playing bridge and was crazy about flowers, planting and caring for 100 different species. Surviving is her brother Gerald E. Hoeffel; and many cousins. The Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated Thursday at 11 AM in Christ the King Church where visitation will be 1 hour prior.  Interment will be private.  In Lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials to Ebeid Hospice c/o Promedica Health System, 5200 Harroun Rd., Sylvania, Ohio 43560.  Arrangements by Walker Funeral Home and condolences may be sent to walkerfuneralhomes.com.
