Jeanne H. Smith, 90, of Toledo, died September 28, 2014 at Parkcliffe Community. She was born May 24, 1924 in Toledo to the late George and Frances (Spieker) Heesen. Jeanne attended DeVilbiss High School and Denison University in Granville, Ohio. She was employed as a bookkeeper for her fathers jewelry store, Heesen-Hascall Jewelers, and then worked for 14 years as a secretary at the Center for Higher Education with the University of Toledo. In her free time, Jeanne enjoyed bowling and playing cards, especially Bridge, which she excelled at. A beautiful lady, Jeanne was once named Beauty of the Week by the Blade. She will be lovingly remembered for her joy-filled and sweet personality and for always making family her first priority. Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Paul J. Smith, whom she married in 1951; children, Steven Smith and Rev. Judy Gill; grandchildren, Nicole Wachowiak (David) and Kimberly Fojtik (Joseph); great grandchildren, Andrew and Alexis Wachowiak, Jacob, Weston and Molly Fojtik; sister, Barbara Harer (Richard); and several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be Tuesday from 2-8 p.m. in the Walker Funeral Home, 5155 Sylvania Ave. (west of Corey Rd.) where funeral services will begin at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, October 1, 2014. Burial will follow at Historic Woodlawn Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to Parkcliffe Community or Senior Independent Living Hospice.
