Jeanne M. Chio Reep

Jeanne M. (Chio) Reep, 96, passed peacefully in Kettering, OH, with her immediate family present. Jeanne was born February 1, 1920 in Fremont, Ohio to Clyde and Hazel (Hughes) Chio. She was a 1938 graduate of Fremont Ross High School and continued her education at Robinwood Hospital School of Nursing in Toledo, Ohio where she graduated with a Registered Nursing Degree in 1941. Jeanne was a passionate caregiver who spent her life as a nurse caring for others. She retired from Firelands Community Hospital in Sandusky, Ohio in 1985. Jeanne continued her care for others throughout her retirement, serving as a volunteer at Magruder Hospital, The American Red Cross and the Humane Society of Ottawa County. She was a prior member of the American Legion Auxilliary and the Port Clinton Artist’s Club. Jeanne was a resident of the Catawba Island Cliffs for 45 years before moving to Dayton, Ohio in 2011 to be with her family. Her biggest pleasures were reading and painting from her backyard view of the lake. She also enjoyed gardening and animals. Surviving are her Granddaughter, Jennifer (Michael) Bergman (Reep) Great Granddaughters, Michala and Breiann Bergman all of Dayton, OH, her Son, Daniel Reep, Marblehead, OH; daughter, Mary Drummond-Patterni, CA and Grandson, Scott Drummond, IN. Jeanne is preceded in death by her parents, brother, Benjamin Chio, sister, Rosalie (Chio) Huss and special friend Thomas Pomelee. Graveside service will be at 11:00AM, Monday, September 12 at Catawba Island Cemetery. Donations can be made in Jeanne’s name to the Ottawa County Humane Society, 2424 E. Sand Rd., Port Clinton, OH 43452. Gerner-Wolf-Walker Funeral Home & Crematory assisted the family with arrangements.
