Jeanette Jan C. Landrum Smith of Maumee, Ohio and Bonita Springs, Florida, passed away in Hospice of Northwest Ohio on Thursday, April 18, 2013. She was born on October 16, 1930 in Perrysburg, Ohio to Earl and Cecelia Spring Landrum. Jan was a Perrysburg High School graduate. After a career as a private secretary, she married her loving husband, George Smith, on June 18, 1955, in St. Rose Catholic Church, Perrysburg. Jan was a very active homemaker while raising their three sons. She was a cub scout den mother for many years and volunteered as a physical fitness instructor at St. Joseph School while her sons were in grade school. Jan served as president of the Riverview Garden Club of Maumee and president of the Federation of Maumee Garden Club. Jan enjoyed 20 years as a successful real estate agent before retiring in 1990. Jan and George spent most of the fall, winter and spring at their condo on Bonita Bay in Florida. They spent many hours playing tennis, golf, swimming, biking, playing bridge and reading. She served on various condo committees and she and George directed the weekly duplicate bridge games for many years at the condo association. Jan is survived by her loving husband, George, sons Dr. Gregory Cindy Smith of Maumee, Dr. Douglas Smith of Seattle, WA and Andrew Smith Beth of Cary, NC. Also, grandchildren, Brandon, Ashley and Lindsey in Maumee. Tina, Ali and Kevin in Seattle, WA and Caroline and Ellen in Cary, NC and brother Earl Landrum in Sarasota, FL, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her brother, Paul, sisters, Alice, Gladys and Marjorie and infant grandson Bradley Smith. Friends may call at Maison-Dardenne-Walker Funeral Home, 501 Conant St. Maumee, Ohio on Monday April 22, 2013 from 3:00 - 8:00pm with a scripture service at 7:00pm. Funeral mass will be held Tuesday, April 23 at 10:00am at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Maumee, Ohio with prayers beginning at the funeral home at 9:30am. Internment will be in St. Josephs Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to the St. Joseph Campus Improvement Fund, 104 W. Broadway, Maumee, Ohio 43537.
