Jean Williams, 87, of Catawba Island, passed away, Christmas Day, Wednesday, December 25, 2013 in Palmetto, Florida. Jean was born on June 27, 1926 in South Haven, MI, the daughter of Edward and Florence Giessler Ludwig. On November 22, 1947 at Catawba Union Chapel, Catawba Ilsand, Ohio, she married Ed Williams. He preceded her in death on March 21, 2005. Jean and Ed built, owned and operated Stony Acres Enterprises, their family excavating company. Jean was a very active member of Grace Baptist Church in Port Clinton. Also, she was a member of Heartbeat of Ottawa County, the American Legion Post #113 Womens Auxiliary. She was an R.N. and belonged to the Retired Nurses Association. She will be greatly missed by all of her loving family and many friends. Most importantly, Jean loved the Lord Jesus Christ. She expressed her love through serving the Grace Baptist Church in Port Clinton, Ohio. How she loved her church family! Everyone who knew Jean Williams loved her and respected her devotion to serving others. She clearly exemplified a servants heart. Survivors include: Sons: Todd A. Williams of North Olmstead, Ohio and Mark D. Betsy Williams of Catawba Island; Daughter: Beth A. Robert Xavier of Palmetto, FL; 10 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren; Sister: Louise Ballard of Catawba Island; 5 nieces, 11 grand nieces and nephews and 12 great grand nieces and nephews.. Jean was preceded in death by her parents and husband Ed. There will be a Graveside service held at 12:00 noon, Monday, January 6, 2014 in Catawba Island Cemetery. A memorial celebration of life service is planned for this coming summer.. Memorial donations in memory of Jean may be written to Grace Baptist Church for Aaron and Anne Bowes, dear, longtime missionary friends of Jean, ministering in East Berlin, Germany. The Gerner-Wolf-Walker Funeral Home Crematory, Port Clinton, Ohio, has assisted the family with arrangements. Online condolences may be shared with the family at www.walkerfuneralhomes.com.
