Jean E. Towning

Jean E. Towning 93, of Port Clinton, OH, passed away, Friday, May 08, 2015 at St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center, Toledo, OH. Jean was born on December 16, 1921 in Roseville, OH, the daughter of Clem J. and Pearl (Tracey) Brown. On March 28, 1942 in Joplin, MO, she married John L. Towning, who preceded her in death on July 11, 1997. Jean was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Port Clinton, OH. She enjoyed golfing, bowling, sewing and quilting. Jean was a member of the Garden Club in Zanesville, OH for over 20 years and a member of the “Wet Ones” swim group at PCYC.. She especially loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. Jean will be greatly missed by her loving family and friends. Survivors include: Daughter: Karen “Kitty” (Chuck) Reichman; Son: John M. “Mike” (Erika) Towning; Grandchildren: John “Jack” (Kristen) Gillespie, Joe Gillespie, Mike (Andrea) Reichman, Christopher and Beth Towning: Great-Grandchildren: Mitchell, Haley, Liam and Jaxson Gillespie, Wesley & Danielle Reichman. Jean was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sister: Margaret Marshall and brother: James Brown. Visitation will be from 5-8pm, Tuesday, May 12, 2015 in the Gerner-Wolf-Walker Funeral Home & Crematory, Port Clinton, OH. A Graveside service will be conducted by Pastor Bruce Batchelor-Glader at 10:30am, Wednesday, May 13, 2015 at Catawba Island Cemetery, Port Clinton, OH. Memorial donations in memory of Jean may be given to Trinity United Methodist Church.
