Jean M. Moseby, AKA “Mama Mo” or “Gigi”, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 7th, 2022, after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. Her family and friends surrounded her with love as she crossed over and gained her angel wings. Jean was born on June 2nd, 1949, in Toledo, Ohio. She was a 1967 graduate of E. L. Bowsher High School.
Prior to her roles in the Toledo Public School system, Jean worked for Libby Owens Ford for 14 years. After that, she started with TPS as a recess aide, then joined the food service industry, mainly the cafeteria. Jean was able to connect with so many children, whom she continued to stay connected with into their adulthood. Many of these children (now adults) still love and remember her as their lunch lady. Jean finally landed the role she would retire from, as a facility site coordinator of Robinson Elementary. Jean was an extremely dedicated worker, frequently working overtime and weekends. Jean could be seen enjoying using the riding lawn mower to maintain the landscaping or snow plowing the sidewalks. Jean officially retired from TPS in January of 2019.
Jean was truly one-of-a-kind. She was a bright soul that made everyone smile. She cherished every moment she spent with her family and friends, especially her grandbabies. Annually she would enjoy her girl’s trip to Florida for sun, shopping and relaxing. She also loved finding unique treasures, eclectic jewelry and trying new restaurants. Jean was also known as the most thoughtful and generous gift giver. Jean was not only an optimist, she was intelligent, patient, funny, and a truly beautiful queen! She will be dearly missed by all that had the honor of knowing her.
Jean is preceded in death by her parents, Raymond and Eleanora (Singleton) Pickerman, nephew, Dean and one very special Grand Dog, Daisy. Left to cherish her memory are her husband, James L. Moseby, and three children, Bianca, James M. (Nicole), and Kalynn Moseby. She will be dearly missed by her grandchildren, Jayden, Emma, Junior, Matt and Sierra. In addition, Jean leaves behind a sister, Trudy (Searl) and Mark. As well as a niece, Dana and nephews, Brett and Terry.
A celebration of life memorial will be held on August 20th, 2022. Details of the event can be found on Jean Moseby’s memorial facebook page
