Jean Patricia Juergens

Jean P. Juergens, 92, of Holland, passed away on Monday, April 24, 2017 at Genacross Lutheran Village at Wolf Creek. She was born in Toledo on April 21, 1925 to Walter and Stella (Fehn) Goetz. Jean grew up in South Toledo and graduated from Harvard Elementary School and Libbey High School. She attended the University of Toledo where she was a member of the Tri Delta Sorority. Jean served as president of the Tri Delta Alumni Association and was also a member of the UT Alumni Association. She worked for a short period as a receptionist/secretary in the Libbey Tower. Jean married her beloved husband, Robert on October 18, 1947 and raised four children. She was a member of the Monroe Street United Methodist Church where she and Robert were founders of the Searchers Sunday School Class. She later rejoined her childhood church, Zion United Methodist Church. Jean enjoyed the outdoors, playing tennis, golf and working in her garden. Jean is survived by her children, Jane (Bruce) Schmakel, Nancy (Jim) Maison, Suzanne (Bryan) Swank and Rob Juergens; 5 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Robert Juergens. Family and friends may visit on Thursday, April 27, 2017 at the Walker Funeral Home, 5155 W. Sylvania Avenue from 3 until 7 p.m. Private interment and services will take place at Toledo Memorial Park.
