Jean E. Christ

Jean E. Christ, 82, of Port Clinton, died in Edgewood Manor, Port Clinton, early Tuesday morning, January 6, 2009. She was born October 8, 1926, in Lacarne, Ohio, to Clayton and Esther Rice St. Clair. On June 15, 1947, at Faith United Brethren in Port Clinton she married Charles W. Christ, who preceded her in death February 25, 1998. Jean was a member of LaPointe United Methodist in Port Clinton, where she volunteered as secretary. She was also a member of the Erie Township Fire Dept. Auxiliary and the Lake Erie Card Club. Jean worked as a secretary at the former Erie Army Proving Grounds and later at the former Rossford Ordnance Depot. Her interests included reading and working crossword puzzles. Jean is survived by her daughter, Martha L. Bowen of Fremont and grandchildren, Nathaniel and Joshua Bowen, sisters, Beverly Jim Johannsen and Karen Kermit Giesler, brother, Dennis Joyce St. Clair, and many nieces and nephews. Her parents, husband, and daughters, Sharon and Sandra Christ, preceded her in death. Visitation will be 2-8 p.m. Friday, January 9, 2009, at the Robinson-Walker Funeral Home Crematory, Oak Harbor. The funeral service will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 10, 2009, in LaPointe United Methodist Church with interment to follow in LaCarpe Cemetery. The family has suggested memorials for Jean to the LaPointe United Methodist Church or the Erie Township Fire Dept.
