Jean E. Carr

In the early morning hours of June 28,2026, Jesus took Jean Carr by the hand and led her to Heaven, ending her battle with Parkinson's disease and Cancer. Her faith remained strong throughout her life and brought her peace in her failing health. She was able to remain at home as she wished. Jean was a long-time member of Perrysburg First Church and attended services right up until the last two weeks of her life. Jean loved her family and friends and was beloved by all who knew her. Her wit, her wisdom and bright smile will be deeply missed.

Jean was preceded in death by Husband William S. Carr, parents G. Frank Hoyer and Catherine (Fellebaum) Hoyer Nedderman, Step-father Forrest Nedderman , Step-Brother Bernard Nedderman and wife Barbara Nedderman, Daughter Julia Carr and Granddaughter Catherine Carr, Step-Grandson Aaron Sabo and Step-Great Grandson Gabe Sabo.

She is survived by: step-sister Phyllis Fledderjoahnn and husband Melvin Fledderjoahnn , Sons Mike (Cathy) Carr, Andrew (Audrey) Carr, and daughter Elisabeth Carr. Grandchildren Daniel Carr, Will Carr, Rachel (Andres) Choconta, Stephen Carr, Sara Carr, David Carr, Alex Carr and Craig Carr, Step Grandchildren Dustin (Jesse Schlageter) Sabo , Ryan (Allie) Sabo and Natalie Sabo. Great-grandchildren Santiago and Zefira Choconta. Step-great grandchildren Raegan, Sydney, Rocky, Jack, Maisy and Molly Sabo. Special long-time TEAM JEAN caregivers Becky Lancaster, Jenell Goodman, Alisa Gallup, Annette Mensah, Brianna King, Pam Flores and Michelle Zapata.

Born in 1932 in Findlay, Ohio, Jean knew from an early age that she wanted to be of service in the medical field. The road was not always easy as her father Frank died from tuberculosis when she was only 12. Jean was an excellent student and a hard worker. She went to Bowling Green State University and then to Cleveland Clinic becoming one of the very first licensed physical Therapists in the state of Ohio. Jean married Bill Carr in 1954 and began her career at Children's hospital in Columbus working with polio patients. They moved to Perrysburg in the late 1950's where Jean and Bill raised their family and never left. She spent the last 25 years of her career working with veterans at the Toledo VA. She was quite passionate about helping veterans improve their quality of life.

Jean was very involved in her community in a wide range of groups and organizations.. Over the years this included everything from: Campfire girls and girls scouts, St. Paul's Community Church, NAMI with Dr. Ted Bowlus, Perrysburg Christians United, teaching Sunday School, elementary school tutoring , United Methodist Women, and Honor Flight.

Jean was an animal lover, a talented painter specializing in landscapes, a gardener with a love of plants and flowers and a die-hard Buckeye fan. She was also an avid reader , reading thousands of books in her lifetime. Jean loved to travel going on many family vacations. In later years, Bill and Jean went on many trips together including an Alaskan cruise, a train trip across Canada and a cruise through the Panama Canal. Her passion for travel never ended and she again went on family vacations including Hawaii, Disneyworld, Jamaica and the Buckeye Cruise for Cancer. Jean also knew reading can take you anywhere you wish to go.

A Celebration of life will be held Saturday, July 18, 2026 at Perrysburg First Church, 200 W. 2nd Street, Perrysburg at 11:00 A.M. Visitation will begin at 10:00 A.M. A luncheon will follow the celebration of life.

Jean and Bill's ashes will be laid to rest in a private ceremony beside her parents, and daughter at later date at Maple Grove Cemetery, Findlay, OH.
