Jean A. Schultz

Jean Angeline Schultz, 65, of Oak Harbor, OH passed away unexpectedly Thursday, July 25, 2024 at her home. She was born on October 9, 1958 in Port Clinton, OH to Ray and Lois (Treter) Wehner. Jean graduated from Oak Harbor High School in 1976 and went on to earn her Associates in Early Childhood Education Technology from Owens Community College as well as her Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education from Bowling Green State University. She continued her graduate studies and earned two Master’s degrees from the University of Toledo (Special Education) and the University of Illinois (Library Sciences).

On August 1, 1997 in Rocky Ridge, OH she married her husband Gerald “Jerry” Schultz. Jean worked as an educator for the Woodmore schools district for 25 years, the St. Boniface Catholic School for nine years and was a beloved substitute teacher towards the end of her decades spanning teaching career. She had a passion for education and facilitating her students’ success. She also served as a lifelong member at the St. John Lutheran Church in Rocky Ridge.

Jean was an avid reader, loved her good wines, swimming and spending time at the pool in the sunshine surrounded by family. She also enjoyed painting and going to art events with her close friends and colleagues. Jean enjoyed traveling, especially to Europe, where she visited - England, Ireland, France, Greece, Germany, Italy and Sweden. Following her retirement last year she facilitated her family’s travel to Costa Rica, which was amongst her favorite and most memorable trips. She took a very active role in her grandchildren’s lives and attended all their activities being immensely proud. Jean was a very giving and generous person and her family is going to miss her caring presence.

In addition to her loving husband, Jerry, of nearly 27 years, she is survived by her daughter, Desiree Ann Weidner (Michael Ryan Pavley), grandchildren, Kaleb Lee Wood, Hailey Jean Stoops and Isabel Elizabeth Pavley, siblings, Judy (Mike) Lacer and Lee (Deb) Wehner, nieces & nephews, great nieces & nephews and her beloved dog, Reece. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Tom Wehner.

Visitation for Jean will be Wednesday, July 31, 2024 from 2-8 p.m. at the Robinson-Walker Funeral Home & Crematory, 165 E. Water St., Oak Harbor, OH. Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m., Thursday, August 1, 2024 at St. John Lutheran Church, 450 Rocky Ridge Rd., Oak Harbor, OH. Interment will follow in Salem Township Union Cemetery, Oak Harbor, OH. Memorial contributions in memory of Jean may be given to St. John Lutheran Church, Rocky Ridge.
