J.D. Mowel, 75, of Port Clinton, OH, passed away, Friday, October 31, 2008 at H.B. Magruder Hospital, Port Clinton, OH. He was born on March 11, 1933 in Surgoinsville, TN to Grover Cleveland and Virginia Elizabeth Crawford Mowel. On April 26, 1952 in Port Clinton, OH he married Della Mae Matthews and she preceded him in death. J.D. was retired from US Gypsum. He loved bluegrass music, gardening and canning. J.D. was an animal lover especially his birds and chickens. Survivors include: Children: Betty Jerry Stoik of McMinnville, TN, Cathie Brian Wampler of Fremont, OH, Connie Mowel of Foley, AL, Wilma Ted Lochotzki of Gypsum, OH, David Marcella Mowel of Port Clinton, OH, Michael Mowel of Gypsum, OH; 25 loving Grandchildren and 26 loving Great-Grandchildren; Sisters: Dorothy Mae Mason of Greenbelt, MD, Francis Arlene Matthews of Rogersville, TN; Daughter-In-Law: Valerie Mowel. J.D. was also survived by many loving nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his: Parents, Wife, Son: Dennis Lee Mowel; Son-in-law: William Byington; Brothers: James, Carl, Ray, William Bootie, Reece; Sisters: Bea and Rosie. He will be greatly missed by his loving family and friends. Visitation will be from 2-8PM, Tuesday, November 4, 2008 in the Gerner-Wolf-Walker Funeral Home Crematory. Funeral services will be conducted by Pastor Scott Robles at 11:00AM, Wednesday, November 5, 2008 at Victory Christian Fellowship Church, 2051 Oak Harbor Road, Fremont, OH.
