Jaycee Michelle Parent, 17 of Toledo, passed away suddenly and unexpectantly on Saturday, January 3, 2026 after a short illness.
Jaycee was born in Lima, Ohio on April 29, 2008. She is survived by her parents, Cindy Kosier (John) and Jason Parent (Erin), sister Jaymin Parent, maternal grandparents Jeff and Orpha Millslagle, and paternal grandparents Greg and Denise Parent. Jaycee is also survived by two great-grandparents, Joyce Millslagle and Rosemary Parent. She has step-siblings Noah Kosier, Izzie Kosier, Remi Metzger, Cameron Metzger, and step-grandparents Rick and Julie Kosier. She also has a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends, along with her boyfriend Gavin Hamilton and her cat Leo.
Jaycee was an honors student and was finishing school early from the Oregon Learning Center after attending Toledo Christian School and previously Temple Chistian School of Lima, Ohio. She was accepted into the Wildlife Resource Management program of Hocking College and planned on starting classes in the fall of 2026.
She was an excellent Bible quizzer qualifying for the national team of the Nazarene Youth Quizzing competition two consecutive years. She expressed herself in art, drawing, and music. Teaching herself how to play the guitar and the ukulele, she participated in one of the student worship teams at Toledo Christian School for two years and served as her house chaplain. She was also on the girls’ varsity soccer team for two seasons.
Jaycee loved nature and enjoyed the outdoors. She was quite the fisherman and like other great anglers she always had fishing rods in her car. She spent many hours fishing with her dad, step-mother, sister, paternal grandparents and her boyfriend. Motorcross, snowmobiling and skiing were all activities she enjoyed.
Being inspired by her sister, Jaycee competed in the Allen Couty Fair showing several horses and won many competitions in a variety of categories over the span of four years.
Her photogenic smile, quick wit, and bubbly personality gave Jaycee a vast network of connections which enabled her to touch the lives of innumerable people. Anyone who came in contact with Jaycee found her charm captivating. She was radiant and an incredible blessing to be around.
Her favorite Bible verse was Isaiah 41:10 – “So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”
The void of Jaycee’s death will be felt by many people, including her family, friends and all who knew her. While the loss of Jaycee is beyond heartbreaking and is unexplainable, the family is comforted by the fact Jesus loves her, she is with Him now, and those of us who know Him will see her again.
